The Acting Minister of Energy and Water visited the Gulbahar/Panjshir Dam area
The Acting Minister of Energy and Water, H.E. Alhaj Mullah Abdul Latif Mansoor, visited the Gulbahar/Panjshir Dam area accompanied by the Deputy Governor of Parwan province, Honorable Mufti Muhammad Idris Anwari, as well as several directors from the Ministry of Energy and Water and the Directors of Sub-River Basins of Parwan and Kapisa provinces.
During the visit, the Acting Minister emphasized the significance of the dam, stating that its construction would not only contribute to water management and electricity production but also address the rights issues of Parwan and Kapisa provinces. Additionally, he highlighted the constructive role the dam would play in supplying drinking water to Kabul province.
The Acting Minister discussed ongoing efforts to secure financing for the dam's budget, aiming to initiate construction in the future.
It is noteworthy that the Gulbahar/Panjshir Dam has the capacity to store 490 million cubic meters of water and generate 116 megawatts of electricity. Upon completion, the dam is expected to irrigate 70,000 hectares of agricultural land, resolving the shortage of agricultural water in Parwan and Kapisa provinces and significantly contributing to the drinking water supply in Kabul province.
