Eight check dam projects, with a total value of over 18 million Afghanis, have been inaugurated in Khost province.

The opening ceremony for these projects took place in Nadershah Kot district of Khost province, in the presence of Acting Minister of Energy and Water, H.E. Alhaj Mulla Abdul Latif Mansoor, Director General of Kabul River Basin, Engineer Habib ur Rahman Haqpal, Head of Khost Sub-river Basin, Maulawi Abdul Qayyum Thabit, along with local officials and ethnic elders of Khost province.

During the opening, The Acting Minister referred to the rule of the Islamic system as a divine blessing in the country, emphasizing the importance of appreciating this blessing as it has provided both security and opportunities for economic development.

H.E. Mansoor mentioned that a total of 13 projects were considered in Khost province, out of which eight have been completed, two are under construction, and three more have been designed and are ready for contracting. These projects aim to prevent soil decay, reduce the risk of floods, store rainwater, and strengthen water resources in the province. With the implementation of these eight projects, more than 53,000 cubic meters of water will be stored, and employment opportunities have been provided to nearly 10,000 people directly.
