Construction work on a major bridge between the Panjwai and Zhari districts of Kandahar Province has begun.

The construction of a large bridge connecting the Panjwai and Zhari districts of Kandahar Province was inaugurated by the Minister of Water and Energy, Hajji Mullah Mohammad Yunus Akhunzada. The inauguration ceremony was attended by the Sub Governor of Panjwai District, Maulvi Abdul Razeq; the Sub Governor of Zhari District, Qari Mohammad Salim; the Head of the Kandahar River Basin, Mullah Syed Mohammad Sharafat; along with a large number of local elders, youth, and residents of the area. In his speech at the ceremony, the Minister of Water and Energy, Hajji Mullah Mohammad Yunus Akhunzada, said that the construction of this bridge holds special importance in facilitating movement between Panjwai and Zhari districts and resolving the long-standing problems of the local residents. It is worth mentioning that the bridge is approximately 203 meters long and is being built to a high standard at a cost of around 110 million Afghanis, based on a special directive from the Prime Minister’s Office. Upon completion, it will significantly ease travel and transportation between the two districts and resolve long-standing transit issues for the people.
